Straw poll, who listens to podcasts regularly?

I am ambivalent about podcasts and wanted to get some views. On 22nd April I tweeted “Straw poll, who listens to podcasts regularly?”

I don’t pretend this is any more that a straw poll but even so the stats were interesting.

Of the 25 replies 68% said YES, with 32% NO.

Of those who listened, and shared more information, 27% listened daily, 46% weekly and 27% listened every so often.

Thanks to those who took part. I am interested in further comments here or @markofrespect on Twitter.

I love podcasts, in fact I think I publicly stated audioboo was the new twitter – I kind of jumped the gun a bit there what with the whole not audio-booing forever but still I do believe podcasts are amazing.
I think it’s really interesting to hear people speaking with passion about the topics they’re interested in. of course a good writer can get their passion across with their words but when you hear them actually sharing their opinions it brings a whole aspect.
Plus, sometimes things just “sound” better than they read…I wish more bloggers would move in to podcasting or at least incorporate it in to their blogs!

I used to download loads of podcasts of different things. Every week i'd open up the iTunes and there they are but I never really listen to them anymore. I still download them and MUST try to find time to catch up and listen.

One of my favourites used to be Learning Spanish with... some guy. It was really useful. I don't suppose that's the kinda podcast you're talking about though is it?

I don't go out my way to listen to podcasts, don't know why.

I read a reasonable amount of blogs and I download audiobooks for personal development which I listen to regularly.

Probably a bit like you which is ambivalent to them, maybe they'll grow on me....

I did try to use Windows narater which is designed to read text from the computer to you so I could listen to some blogs I wanted to read as I made breakfast this morning, wasn't a good experience!
